Justin Burbage is a professional skateboarder that lives in a 4×4 VW Syncro in Venice, Los Angeles. After being born and raised in Oahu, he now travels the world looking for adventure.
Videographer Dylan Magaster caught up with Burbage to find out more about his lifestyle and about life in his VW Syncro:
Magaster has made a name for himself documenting the lives of people living off the grid. His YouTube channel, which has almost racked up 10 million views, explores those who’ve “decided to make a change and create the life they want to live”. Burbage is no different.
With an Instagram account full of enviable beach shots, Burbage appears to be living the dream. A look into his van also shows that despite the small confines, he appears to have all the essentials and some extra luxuries—including some fairy lights and Netflix. He says:
Every day is an adventure. You wake up wherever you want to be. You can wake up in the beach, on the beach, in the mountains, everywhere is your home and every day is a journey.
There isn’t a certain way to live life. Everybody is born with different talents…we are all different and I think these things are gifted to you specially…My message to everybody is don’t be scared to go after something that’s different from what the world says is OK.
Burbage is a fantastic advocate for living life to the max. While living in a van may not be to everyone’s choosing, we could all learn something from his experiences. Especially about enjoying the journey.
