If you’re going to be filming in forests, jungles or other densely overgrown areas, chances are you will need access to off-track locations. Without a means to clear a path through the dense tree and plant life, though, progress will be near-impossible. This is where the machete comes in.
It goes without saying that using a large sharp blade requires care, and in an isolated location, this is even more important. In the second part of 1iOpen Productions’ adventure filmmaking series, Erik Nachtrieb explains the why, when and how of using a machete.
