I came up with an idea of creating a series of images that have become very personal to me from their back stories and the challenges that I came across, so I want to give you a little insight into why I love capturing the outdoor lifestyle.
To kick off my series of outdoor and lifestyle photographs, I thought it would be perfect to start from above and work our way down.
Who doesn’t like Aerial Photography anyway? This image is of ‘The Hanging Stone’, Guisborough Forest, North Yorkshire, UK.
Once I had hiked to the spot, I was sadly welcomed with gusts of wind that weren’t suitable to fly the drone in, so a simple shot then became a waiting game until the time was right. I had everything ready to go, Drone, Camera, Controller, Myself… so as soon as the wind died down, I could get that thing as high as possible!
After a a long 30 minutes of waiting around it was time to get it up. I wanted to get the paths more central in the image with a good surrounding of trees. It took a while to get the perfect position but I managed to get there… In the end!!
For all you tech heads out there… I was flying a DJI Phantom 2 advanced with a GoPro Hero 3 Black attached to the bottom of a Zenmuse ZH3-2D gimbal to hold things perfectly steady.
I hope these images over the next few months will inspire you to go out and capture how you see the World around you!
