Last Summer, Rusutsu ski area, on Japan’s North Island of Hokkaido, built a Travis Rice-inspired supernatural terrain park in the forest. The Salomon crew were given first crack at it in all-time powder conditions. The resulting edit is inspiring: deep powder, hard lines and some huge tricks – check out the double backflip at the 2:20 mark.
“I got the idea of our ‘Side Country Park’ from Super Natural, a backcountry snowboard competition.” My Yamanaka, the guy in charge of the park, said. “When I saw the contest, I knew we had to design something like this. When we designed the park, it was very important for me to create features that everyone would enjoy, not just professionals.”
“I think the terrain we have and the features we created will inspire skiers to try new things,” Yamanaka continued. “I hope everyone enjoys our new ‘Side Country Park’.
So, silly question, but who wants to go? We do!
