Earlier this month, March 7, 2015, the 12th Saas Fee Glacier Downhill Bike Race took place and it was awesome. Check out the video above and the others below to see a whole bunch of Downhillers riding flat-out down one of the iciest mountain bike tracks in the world, ok…so it’s actually a glacier temporarily turned into a mountain bike track and maybe not as icy as this.
The entire decent, towards the valley finish, is about 3500 meters. Regardless of whether you are a pro or amateur rider, just getting to the bottom without falling off is a huge achievement, just check out the video at the bottom of the page to see why the decent is so challenging. At least the snow makes for a comfyish landing though.
In the end Patrik Koller got to the valley first and took the victory, with a time of 7:39 min. Barbara Stettler was the fastest woman down the glacier, with a time of 13:02.
