Red Bull Racing and GoPro have announced they are joining forces on a special partnership that will push the boundaries of Motorsport video production. Aside from this, it has also been confirmed that GoPro will be the team’s official supplier.
With the aim of showcasing “special Formula 1 content for digital and social channels,” Red Bull also announced their plans to produce and broadcast “features on filming days, driver activities, and unique live demos where the team take their F1 car to fans across the globe.”
Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner said: “Red Bull has always been known for testing the limits of what is possible in sport and in telling those incredible stories, especially in F1. In recent years GoPro’s cameras have become the reference for getting as close to the action as possible, so I think the synergies between the Team and GoPro are wide-ranging and extremely exciting.”
Todd Ballard, Vice President of Global Sports Entertainment Marketing at GoPro revealed: “We are excited to team up with Red Bull Racing for the upcoming season and capture content from unique locations around the globe. We will be able to bring viewers closer to their favourite team than they’ve ever been and tell the stories you don’t usually get to see.”
Commenting on the agreement, F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo said: “This is a pretty cool partnership. Red Bull is always up for doing things a bit differently and I think GoPro shares a lot of the same values. It should make for some pretty wild ideas and I guess I’ll be the one behind the wheel trying to make them happen!”
This isn’t the first appearance in racing for GoPro, and their action cameras are already used in the American IndyCar series. In 2015, GoPro also partnered with the Nissan factory team during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
