Hydrofoil boards are practically becoming synonymous with big-wave surfer Kai Lenny—he recently rode his hydrofoil along a 50 mile stretch from Hawai’i to Maui.
Wondering whether his trusty hydrofoil would also work in ‘Lake Atlantic’, Lenny recently headed to the New York for some events at the Hurley Surf Club in Long Beach.
The ‘pancake’ conditions of the East Coast, provided the perfect conditions for Lenny to show off what a hydrofoil is capable of—you couldn’t pump a surfboard though that!
Members of the Hurley Surf Club also had a perfect vantage point, as Lenny picked up speed with some trusty boat wake surfing. Judging from their reactions, it looks like New York will soon have a lot more hydrofoilers during summer flat spells.
