Three friends from Germany are launching the ultimate guide to help surfers across the world. Their guide called ‘Surfing Worldwide’ comprises of an infographic and a map that shows users, at one glance, when and where it’s best to surf that day. So instead of time consuming research, surfers can check their guide and plan ahead.
The creators
The guide itself was the brainchild of Thomas Zielinski from blog, Get Wet Soon, and Lana Bragina and Stefan Spiegel from Marmota Maps. Zielinski came up with the idea to help surfers cut the amount of time-consuming research they needed to do to find out specific places and times to surf.
The team also paired up with surf guide company Low Pressure, who helped them collate the data they needed.
The guide
The guide itself covers 680 of the most important surf spots throughout the world. It provides monthly data on surfing quality and also information on tide, direction, swell and wave size for each spot.
The team have been crowdfunding for its launch since 1 June and have raised over €14,000 (£12,307). With 45 hours to go until their campaign ends, there is still some time to pledge. The map and infographic requires a €66 (£58) pledge and will be shipped out in August.
